Investigation on the microwave heating technology for coalbed methane recovery

Microwave heating is an efficient thermal stimulation approach in developing coalbed methane (CBM). In this paper, a new microwave technology for CBM proposed and two structure schemes of waveguide antennas are designed. After characterizing the mathematical model coaxial antenna radiation, numerical coal reservoir heated by established, which couples both electromagnetic field heat transfer. The distribution temperature changing law during process solved numerically verified designed experiment. A parametric study on effect yields optimized antenna, SD 6 × R8 ? = 15°. irradiated optimal 120 min, average rises to 62 °C (from 20 °C) energy efficiency reaches 85%. different reservoirs, maximum ranges from 169 1586 gradient 2.52 °C/mm 37.19 °C/mm, beneficial crack propagation. can provide fast sufficient raise feasible enhancing recovery.
